About the artist
Biographie
Hervé NYS was born in Cagnes-sur-Mer in 1960. He studied agricultural mechanics and then joined the naval air force as an aircraft mechanic. From the Massey Ferguson to the Super-Etendard, he acquired his mechanical knowledge… His life path led him to become a chiseler in a lost wax Art Foundry. During 10 years, he learns to master bronze (casting, chasing, patina, …), working for many sculptors. In 2003, he left the foundry to become Sacha SOSNO’s assistant.
The fusion of this technical mastery and his experience of mechanics, gives birth to new sculptures in contemporary art: detour of mechanical parts with unlimited imagination often tinged with humor and unique know-how.

The first is the meeting with Hervé Nys... The second is the immersion in his universe. .... The third is my daily journey with the work that accompanies me. All of which is an immense pleasure! I can't wait for the next meeting.

I love the research of the work, the detail, I have the footprint with the small cars in the form of a circuit and the razor blade,, these two pieces fascinate me every time with its eye-catching details. These works of art reflect the image of the artist who is understated but bursting with talent. Pascalou

Great mechanical art! I have been an assertive fan of this style for years, and every day I work alongside these works of art which are full of poetry, humor and magic and giving me the same amount of pleasure. Whether they are climbing the Babel, foraging or satisfying themselves with the bare essentials, my little pilots populate my artist's lair, making me emotional, propitious to creation, nevertheless, if one day an "in-shell" should disturb my peace of mind! Bravo for these original creations ...

In the history of contemporary art, Nys represents the exceptional synthesis of Neo Realism et the heritage of Surrealism. His poetry of the mechanical, imbued with deep humor, reveals the beauty and inexplicable workings of poetry.

How does one describe the emotions one feels on discovering a work of art by Hervé Nys; by way of adjectives, when it was offered to me then when I revisited it every day; I felt fulfilled, happy, radiant.... As for the sculpture itself : harmony, brightness, grace....Simply put, to my eyes, it is unique and exudes the the essence of a passion for cars.

I discover that mechanics can be very poetic. Both elegant and interesting.
Aida Altipermakian
Full of humour and poetry even for a serious subject. I love it because, It's Life! Which is always the most intense.
